Carey Baptist College
Harrisdale
DWA prepared a master plan for the development of the all age-school site, with the capacity to accommodate 1,800 students. The design included water and fire mains, sewerage, stormwater drainage and roads. Sub-division conditions were negotiated. With assistance from Ministry of Housing and the Water Corporation, a 1.8km non-standard water connection was constructed, under the supervision of David Wills.
DWA also designed the extension of the existing library and new Early Learning Centre, and the car park upgrade increased and improved traffic flow through the school.
An already existing large steel-frame building was relocated from an industrial area in Queens Park, to create a new Recreation Centre and Auditorium for the Carey Baptist College. Modification to the configuration of the existing building was required, to accommodate the various requirements set by the Council for the use of the Recreation Centre. This modification saved the client in excess of $1 million.
DWA has also undertaken civil design for Winthrop Baptist College, Somerville Baptist College, Quinns Baptist College, Frederick Irwin Anglican School, and St Laurence Primary School, Geraldton.
